On a site without existing authority, plan for three to six months before the trend is clear. Technical fixes can show sooner. We never promise a ranking or a date, because competition, your site and Google decide the pace. Judge SEO by enquiries and cost per enquiry, not by a keyword position.
Why does SEO take months and not days?
Google has to find your changes, index them and compare your pages against sites that have been earning trust for years. A fix to a broken page can be picked up quickly. Building a reason for Google and for customers to prefer your pages over established ones is slower, and it cannot be bought on a schedule.
This is also why we are wary of anyone who promises a date. The honest answer is a range, based on where your site starts.
What happens in each phase?
Weeks 1 to 4: audit and fix
We review indexing, speed, site structure and your Google Business Profile, and fix what is holding the site back. You receive written findings you can act on with or without us.
Months 2 and 3: build
Content aimed at the questions customers ask, citation and listing clean-up, and internal links between your service pages. This is where most of the effort sits.
Months 3 to 6: measure the trend
Once there is enough data, we compare enquiries and cost per enquiry against your starting point and decide what to do more of. A single month is noise. Three months is a trend.
What slows SEO down?
- A new domain or a site with no history to build on.
- Strong competition from established sites in the same market.
- Thin or copied content that adds nothing beyond what is already ranking.
- Technical problems such as pages Google cannot index, slow mobile speed or duplicate copies of the same page.
- Too many changes at once. If you rewrite titles, content and structure together, you cannot tell which change worked.
What should I measure?
Rankings are easy to report and easy to misread. We report these instead:
- Enquiries from the website, and where they came from.
- Cost per enquiry, when paid work is involved.
- Impressions, clicks and average position in Google Search Console, for pages and for queries, so you can see the trend.
- Calls and direction requests from your Google Business Profile.
What about Google updates?
Google makes broad core updates and spam updates several times a year, and rankings can move while they roll out. If a rollout is running, it is worth waiting for it to finish before you change anything. Google lists current and past updates on its Search Status Dashboard.
Our rule is to avoid reacting to a week of movement. We look at the trend over several weeks, then decide whether the problem is the site, the content or simply the update.
What does SEO cost with Apensia?
A one-off SEO audit is from ₹15,000. Monthly SEO runs from ₹15,000 to ₹30,000, depending on the number of pages and how competitive your market is. There is no long lock-in on monthly work. See the SEO packages for what each includes.
When is SEO the wrong first step?
If the website is slow, broken on mobile or does not tell a visitor what to do, SEO sends more people to a site that loses them. One of our education clients came asking for social media, and we told them to fix the website first and come back in three months. If that is your situation, we will say so.
